Black Daylight - The second season mix (stigae009)

Sensual electronic pop music

A new one from the label Stigae - the Chicago-based producer Thomas McCauley's project Blackdaylight. Smooth music which an emotional and sensitive approach. Some years ago, this release would be classified and sorted under the trip hop genre label... But i would classify this release as electronic art music, triptronica - it's sensual pop music. With a mix of sampling kunst, electronica and live instruments, Thomas come up with beautiful melodies and melodic layers. Get this and don't forget to support the artist!

Moabi - Hanami (rb021)

Headline

Here's another one from Resting Bell and their own beatiful and description of this release i'm not able to add anything because it's perfect:

Moabi from Toulouse, France, collected three own pieces and two remixes for this fantastic release called “Hanami“ (japanese for “enjoying the beauty of flowers”).

Set up between Electronica, IDM, Experimental music and Ambient, all five pieces have a very unique, deep feeling. An impressive mix of beautiful melodies, intense atmosphere and twinkle-toed beats. Starting with the more beat-orientated “Hey You“ the EP gets calmer with every following track, finding it’s end in the quiet and subtle “Moll“-piece with over nine minutes of glitches and hounted melodies.

Warm your cold winter-feet with this warming organic sounds

Intensive and massive independent music

Here comes a very atmospheric self-released mini album by inyi alias Mattias Andersson from Sweden. On this releases, his music is more guitar and vocal-driven, sometimes calm and intimate, sometimes huge and very intensive and massive. Still punctuated with electronic elements, this one is for the indietronica division... Live drums on track 2 by Elias "enapa" Lindman - Rock on!

Herzog - ocean! be our blanket (12rec039)

Melancholic electronic folk

Ok, i don't know exactly why i missed this one on 12rec - shame on me... Now this wonderful release turned out to one of my winter highlights on my ipod, so here comes the (very late) review... It's 12recs' 039 from Herzog aka Bill Bawden. Released formely two albums on the great Serein label, on 'Ocean!' he continues his unique filigrane, hypnotic stylemix of electronica, folk and experimentals. 'Warm, quite focused, hypnotic and neat'. Wonderful timeless folk-flavored electronica with a dreamy melancholic touch. Yep! A winter essential...

Intimate quite piano compositions

This stunning release on the mighty aerotone label will hold on time. Through all rushing, pushing, hurrying in nowadays life, this music acts like a tender stop of any clocks. Release all redundant and needless brain-activities and calm down completely to this intense look into Reiko Matanes (a female Japanese piano player) intimate thoughts and feelings. Attend her through her wonderful, endogenous and sincere music. Best for these rainy or snowy winter evenings in front of a fireside,,, Fantastic!

RESN - Disfunktion act 2 (hw023)

Downtempo Electronica / IDM from Hungary

Stumbled upon this release from RESN aka Oliver Bajza which is released by Homework - a network label based in Murmansk, Russia. With his very intensive blend of ambient, IDM, electronica, jazz and trippy downtempo beats, RESN forced me to watch to my iPod screen what the hell was playing. He finally got me with his wonderful track 'My number is', an intense and intimate piece of music - deep and mellow, warm like a sunbeam on a cold windy autumn day. These ep simply made me happy and forced me to stop and hold for some minutes... Download this music!

Various artists – 100 (thn100)

deep down with 100

Thinner's back with a deep bang. The eternal label has reached the magic release number 100 and dropped a various artists compilation with many thinner-veterans aboard. And yet every track is deep like a fragment broken from solid primitive rocks. Starting with the slow-moving smart interpretation of classic dub by veer, this release is getting deeper with every track, drifting into more abstract minimalism with Benfay's 'Let me avow', touching the rings of deep-house (check out Brian Kage's floorburner 'Zebes' :-) and finally closing with superb abstract ambiendub by Off The Sky vs. Gyges and deluge. Highly recommended!

Various artists - Let's Talk About Muertepop #2 (muerte009)

Blues electronica

Ok, a bit late, but better late than never. The latest release from the beloved muertepop label from Italy. And they did a very good job and are back with a sinful collection of ten tracks created by artists around the world. From flawless pop like 'Real Air To Use' by Background Radiation over electropop-like music like 'Kids Like Silence' by Silence Is Sexy to the deeper, sometimes experimental side of melancholic electronica with 'Mind Sheep' by Nakao::: and 'Mente', this various artists compilation is a wonderful example for quality independent music in my eyes. The music fits perfect into these colder and darker autumn days - at least here in germany...

Crossroads - Mix by Marcus Watkins (swm034)

A personal blend of deeper force

A mix can give you very intimate and personal insights to someone and let you come in contact with new music, artists or labels you otherwise possibly never noticed. In this case, we can imagine what's on the mind Marcus Watkins, who runs and coordinates the Detroit based web-label Random Access Recordings. Released on sonic walker, Marcus delivers a deep, solid and carefully selection of his netlabel favourites. Step into his world of minimalism, deepness and micro-house-funk-grooves, all releated to the very techno side of music. Yep. Dance it. Or hear it while driving your car through a starry night...
