Peak - so quiet EP (aqbmp010)

Italian dub

A polished juwel was dropped by aquietbump, a label based in southern italy. And this fine release comes from Paolo Picone aka Peak. Here he shows his addiction to dub-elements and fills the ear with deep dub constructions - 'buona notte' and 'looking around' are more 'classical' dub-techno style, 'a train to roots' and 'so quiet' have more ambient ambitions, still dubby. Very nice and again a new label to me...

Lost Lanterns - Polar Living (rb022)

Ambient fields

Here's a new one from Resting Bell - 'Polar living' by Lost Lanterns. This is the project of Ian Hawgood from UK and Ben Jones, who's living in Tokyo. They once met at university and worked together in different bands, now teamed up to work alone on their music using live instrumentation, field recordings and computers.

Black Daylight - The second season mix (stigae009)

Sensual electronic pop music

A new one from the label Stigae - the Chicago-based producer Thomas McCauley's project Blackdaylight. Smooth music which an emotional and sensitive approach. Some years ago, this release would be classified and sorted under the trip hop genre label... But i would classify this release as electronic art music, triptronica - it's sensual pop music. With a mix of sampling kunst, electronica and live instruments, Thomas come up with beautiful melodies and melodic layers. Get this and don't forget to support the artist!

Moabi - Hanami (rb021)

Moabi - Hanami (rb021)

Headline

Here's another one from Resting Bell and their own beatiful and description of this release i'm not able to add anything because it's perfect:

Moabi from Toulouse, France, collected three own pieces and two remixes for this fantastic release called “Hanami“ (japanese for “enjoying the beauty of flowers”).

Set up between Electronica, IDM, Experimental music and Ambient, all five pieces have a very unique, deep feeling. An impressive mix of beautiful melodies, intense atmosphere and twinkle-toed beats. Starting with the more beat-orientated “Hey You“ the EP gets calmer with every following track, finding it’s end in the quiet and subtle “Moll“-piece with over nine minutes of glitches and hounted melodies.

Warm your cold winter-feet with this warming organic sounds

Inyi - ~

Intensive and massive independent music

Here comes a very atmospheric self-released mini album by inyi alias Mattias Andersson from Sweden. On this releases, his music is more guitar and vocal-driven, sometimes calm and intimate, sometimes huge and very intensive and massive. Still punctuated with electronic elements, this one is for the indietronica division... Live drums on track 2 by Elias "enapa" Lindman - Rock on!

Herzog - ocean! be our blanket (12rec039)

Melancholic electronic folk

Ok, i don't know exactly why i missed this one on 12rec - shame on me... Now this wonderful release turned out to one of my winter highlights on my ipod, so here comes the (very late) review... It's 12recs' 039 from Herzog aka Bill Bawden. Released formely two albums on the great Serein label, on 'Ocean!' he continues his unique filigrane, hypnotic stylemix of electronica, folk and experimentals. 'Warm, quite focused, hypnotic and neat'. Wonderful timeless folk-flavored electronica with a dreamy melancholic touch. Yep! A winter essential...
